Fictional worked example
A fictional household needs $2,700 monthly and would receive $1,900 with reduced hours. The gap is $800. A $2,400 unassigned reserve covers three months of that modeled gap, ignoring interest and other surprises. Separately, $600 of tires due in six paydays with $120 already reserved requires $80 per payday. Do not count the same $120 in both plans.
