Our standards
- Practical first: content should help a reader make or evaluate a real decision.
- Plain English: define technical terms without hiding important details.
- Use reliable sources: laws, tax rules, rates, product terms, and other changeable facts should be checked against authoritative or primary sources whenever possible.
- Separate facts from judgment: clearly distinguish established information, estimates, and opinion.
- Correct meaningful errors: update content when important facts change or an error is identified.
- Disclose conflicts: affiliate relationships and sponsorships should be visible to readers.
Affiliate independence
Compensation may influence which products can economically support the site, but it should not determine whether a product is described as good, bad, appropriate, or inappropriate for a particular use case.
AI-assisted production
AI tools may assist with research organization, drafting, editing, calculations, coding, and production. Financial content should still be reviewed for accuracy, clarity, usefulness, and source quality before publication.
