Before You Paste: AI at Work Checklist
Forging Smart Futures — Money Built for Working People.
Use this checklist before trying a workplace task. It is an educational aid, not an employer policy or authorization.
Before you start
- Name one task and the result you need. Start with organizing or drafting, where you can check the output.
- Check whether your employer permits this tool for this information and task. Ask the appropriate owner if unclear.
- Use fictional practice material first. Remove customer identifiers, private employee information, account details and confidential business information.
- Do not upload employer documents merely because you can access them. Access and permission to share are different.
- Identify the source of truth you will use to check the result.
Give the tool a clear brief
Task: ____________________
Audience: ____________________
Approved facts to use: ____________________
Facts that are missing: ____________________
Required format and length: ____________________
Tell it: “Use only the facts supplied. Mark unknowns. Do not add names, dates, measurements, causes, approvals or completed actions.”
Before using the result
- Check every name, amount, date, unit and factual claim against the original information.
- Look for added certainty: “reported,” “suspected,” “requested” and “completed” are not interchangeable.
- Verify any cited source directly. An authoritative-looking link is not proof.
- Confirm the draft leaves required decisions with the responsible person.
- Use approved procedures and qualified supervision for safety-critical work. A polished draft does not authorize action.
- Count drafting, checking and correction time before deciding the tool saved time.
Fictional practice example
Input: “Delivery due Thursday. Supplier has not confirmed time. Ask receiving lead to check tomorrow.”
Acceptable draft: “Delivery is due Thursday; arrival time is unconfirmed. Follow-up: ask the receiving lead to check with the supplier tomorrow.”
Reject: “Supplier confirmed Thursday at 9 a.m.; receiving has approved the delivery.” The time and approval were invented.
Keep the original note and the checked final draft in the approved workplace system, following its rules. Do not create an extra copy of sensitive information for FSF.
