Home technology setup and support Business Starter — Free Preview
Make everyday technology less frustrating through a service with clear limits and a usable handoff.
Offer a scheduled visit for a named device or connectivity task: printer setup, supported Wi-Fi configuration or basic device instruction. Confirm compatibility, customer account ownership and the requested outcome first.
Agree on an achievable outcome and a diagnostic stopping point. An unsupported printer or failing internet service may prevent setup even when the technician works correctly. Separate findings from fixes, document customer-controlled settings and provide a plain-English handoff without recording secrets.
What you can work out with this playbook
- Define an outcome and a fair diagnostic stopping point.
- Keep customer accounts under customer control.
- Include instruction and handoff in the visit price.
The service covered in this example
Offer a scheduled visit for a named device or connectivity task: printer setup, supported Wi-Fi configuration or basic device instruction. Confirm compatibility, customer account ownership and the requested outcome first.
One limited example
Fictional scenario, not a market quote or earnings forecast.
| Per-job assumption | Amount |
|---|---|
| Price before sales tax | $110.00 |
| Variable cash costs | $20.00 |
| Contribution before fixed costs and owner pay | $90.00 |
What to work through
- Access and privacy: Owner remains in control of accounts and credentials. Obtain specific permission for configuration changes and backups.
- Compatibility and limits: Check supported devices/software and ISP boundaries before quoting; define what happens if hardware replacement is needed.
- Local permission and insurance: Describe every included task, working location, customer property exposure and vehicle use to the relevant authorities and insurer. Record written answers, coverage limits and exclusions.
- Tax and cash timing: Verify the service classification and invoice treatment with the appropriate state authority. Sales tax collected is not business revenue. Add payment delays to a separate cash plan.

The expanded resource brings the niche playbook, printable worksheet, fictional example workbook and itemized Business Builder together. Enter your own costs, hours and planning answers; compare the calculated scenario, save the workbook locally and return to it as you gather quotes or pilot results.
Each playbook also includes an AI-assisted drafting exercise you can use in an external AI tool and check yourself. No AI service is called by the builder. Your inputs produce an educational planning report, not verified permissions, customers or guaranteed income.
Membership is useful if you want to work through and revisit your own plan. The free example above is available to read without buying; use it to decide whether the expanded workflow fits your needs.
